Combigan Eye Drop is an excellent ophthalmic preparation used in the management of open-angle glaucoma or other eye diseases, like ocular hypertension. Combigan eye drops contain a combination of two active onstitunets namely generic Brimonidine and Timolol, which lower the raised intraocular pressure inside the eye to prevent blindness.

Mechanism of action of Combigan Eye Drops

Brimonidine belongs to the class of medicine called alpha agonists that shows its activity by allowing better aqueous humor drainage from within the eye and by lowering the quantity of fluid produced in the eyeball. Timolol belongs to the class of medicine known as beta-blockers, which shows its effect by lowering the amount of fluid produced in the eyeball. The combined effect of both medicines lowers the raised intraocular pressure and prevents the optic nerves from getting damage.

What is the exact method of administration of Combigan Eye Drops?

Combigan eye drops contain 0.2% of Brimonidine tartrate and 0.5% of Timolol maleate. Wash your hand prior to the use of Combigan eye drops. Tilt your head back and pull down your lower eyelid to make a pouch. Hold the Combigan eye drops dropper over your eye and instills one drop into the affected eye. You must use Combigan eye drops twice a day at least a gap of 12 hours between two doses of this eye drops.
